ALIA BHATT PLANS TO MARK HER PLACE IN THE MOVIES FOR THE LONG HAUL!

ALIA BHATT PLANS TO MARK HER PLACE IN THE MOVIES FOR THE LONG HAUL!Alia Bhatt, daughter of Mahesh Bhatt is set to mark her place in Bollywood with her upcoming debut film “Student of the Year” directed by Karan Johar! In a recent interview she revealed she is here to stay for the long haul, to perfect her craft and not here chasing overnight stardom!  “I don’t want to be a one-film wonder and then be re-launched after many years,” Alia says.

She truely understands the hard work and determination required to mark her place in the film industry, “I think that it depends on how determined we are and the drive that we have. If we manage to entertain and thrill the audience and the filmmakers, then I’m sure it will work, It’s too soon to tell if I am able to create an impression. I need to wait for another five to six films”  she comments.

Joining the movie business has always been her life goal and career plan “My decision after college was to study acting, but when the film happened, I said why not learn on the film. There is no plan B. If someone asks me what I would do if I can’t succeed as an actor, I would say work harder, because there is nothing else I can do,” she says.

When she was asked about why she chose not to debut in one of her family's own production films, she added “I didn’t want to be launched by Vishesh Films. That would have been an easy option. I had to work for this film (SOTY). Close to 500 girls auditioned for this film. If it had been my father’s production, why would he audition 500 girls if I was there?”.

Student of the Year marks the debut of two other newcomers - Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan, we will be keeping a close eye on the three new film star debutants and keep you posted!

Who do you think will become the most successful out of student of the year's three debutants? (Alia BhattSidharth Malhotra or Varun Dhawan) Give us your views!

Deepika Padukone's Makeup in Cocktail

I have been planning to write this post for the longest time ever!

I saw the movie the very weekend it was released, and kept meaning to write this, but first I got a bit busy & then later I got the flu (which I still have a bit of).

When I had the opportunity to meet Deepika a few days ago, she did admit that she has received a lot of good feedback on her makeup in the movie, but she also is aware that she cannot repeat it in her upcoming movies because not only would it look old & boring after a while, but also because it needs to go with the character she is playing.

The movie itself boasts of good performances & very nice locations - it is a visual treat to watch. Between Veronica (Deepika) & Meera (Diana) in the movie, I resonated a lot more with Meera's style in terms of clothing & makeup, as I'm myself very fond of soft English colors, polka dots & ultra feminine cuts & prints. Not that Veronica is not styled well, it is just a personal preference.

The story line is, well, a bit silly. Saif looks too old to be romancing these young girls. I just thought it was a lazy script that doesn't delve deep enough into Meera's insecurities about her looks, Veronica's discomfort with intimacy & feelings and Gautam's irrational love of the chase.

But before I get lost into the unsaid psychological motives of the characters, let's take a look at Ms. Dippy's makeup!

There were 3 distinct looks that Deepika sported in the movie.

1. Party Girl:

Deepika's Party Girl Makeup in Cocktail
This was your regular smoky eyes, lush lashes look. It helps that Deepika has large eyes to carry such a look off. But instead of black, she's wearing brown eyeshadow. Black is used only to line her waterline and upper lash line. The lips are your regular nude type, beige / brown lipstick with a bit of pink applied and blended in the middle of the lower lip to give them a natural look. Eyebrows are filled in with brown. Blush is skin-colored, if used. It is more of a glowy skin look with highlighter. At one point in the movie I did feel that she had some shimmer on her lid in the smoky eye look, but I could not find a still / image for it. To replicate that, just apply a shimmery antique gold shade (like MAC Genuine Treasure Paint Pot) on top of the brown eyeshadow or else just do your smoky eye with L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Endless Chocolat which is a awesome neutral (will go well on both cool & warm toned people) brown eyeshadow with golden shimmer. Hair has mega volume. Don't ask me how to do that. I wish I could buy a wig like that and walk around in it.

2. Regular Day Makeup (Pre-hospital scenes):

Day Time Smoky Eyes with lotsa Kohl

Day Time look with cat flick eyeliner

I personally found this to be her most interesting look. The eyes are much simpler in some scenes. The crease is defined lightly with a dark brown shade & she is wearing a thick cat liner in black. In other scenes she is wearing a lighter version of her night time smoky with a neutral brown on lid & lotsa kohl & mascara. On her lips, she has a muted matt version of this season's hottest color - maroon! It is a brownish maroon shade - applied lightly as a tint. I think MAC Viva Glam III lipstick as well as Brick O La could be possible options for this. Skin is highlighted to an inch of its existence and the brows are very well defined.

3. Beach party / Indian wear makeup / Post hospital scenes:

This is Veronica in love with Gautam, she gives up smoky eyes for him :-p
This is her "no-makeup" makeup look. Just some black liner to tightline & mascara. The lid has a neutral matt brown shade. Her blush is a neutral pink brown, may be MAC Mocha and lips also have a similar neutral pinky - brown shade. This is a shade very easily available across brands, in MAC you could try Creme in your Coffee or else in Lakme Absolute try Peach Carnation (this would be my #1 fav lipstick from Lakme's range!). In some scenes her lipstick looks like a even more muted version of the brownish maroon she wears in Look #2, in some it seems she is wearing a light brown shade like MAC Half & Half.

I absolutely loved her golden caramel highlighted hair in the movie - and the volume!! OMG! It is volume that I dream of. I wish my hair would look like her's - a wild lion's mane.

Alia bhat at film fare

Celebrity Alia Bhatt, who fashioned her Bollywood first general look with a fun-loving, youth-oriented film like Undergrad Of The Season, is action to operate in a scary film. Actually, she says she would really like to be a element of the Doing away with or Raaz sequence later on.
“In these thrillers and scary movies, it is very difficult to signify the element, to always glimpse scared… and you know, be in that nervous place. So, I would really like to do a film like that. If Eliminating 4 or Raaz 4happen, I would actually like to do it,” the 19-year-old said here Friday at a exceptional reviewing of Eliminating 3.

Alia says she is amazingly satisfied of her comparative Vishesh, who has designed his first overall look as a house with Eliminating 3, which released Feb 15.
“I noticed it with the followers and I liked it. I think the Eradicating sequence has gone a stage ahead with this film. I experience very incredibly satisfied as a sis. Vishesh has taken such a wonderful story and designed it so helpful and learning,” Alia said.

Alia Bhatt's Makeup in Student of the Year

In the interval of SOTY, a Maybelline ad flashes across the screen, trying to convince all the 16 year old girls in the audience that they too can get Alia Bhatt's makeup look in the movie by using Maybelline products.

Can they?

Probably Yes.

But I have my reservations for two reasons:

1. I have a hunch that a lot of products I saw in the movie were actually MAC.

2. I'm not sure 16 year old girls want to wear makeup like Alia Bhatt does in the movie.

And here's why.

Most 16 year old girls hate lipstick. Reasons range from "Ewww, only aunties use it!" to "It makes me look old" and others. They generally prefer light tinted gloss or lip balm.

But in this movie, Alia uses lipsticks in most of the scenes. And not just light, MLBB lipstick (that is just during certain "hospital" emotional scenes), but rather bright, in your face, lipsticks. Using such colors takes a certain amount of style and confidence which most of us acquire only in our twenties.

But her look is a new, modern take on the "Bollywood" heroine look which until now was stuck to old routine of smoky eyes, mlbb lips (she does wear this, but only in certain scenes) & so on. For those of you looking for ideas on how to carry off bright lipcolors, do check out her makeup in the movie.

To get her look:

1. Since she plays a school girl in the movie - she has very fresh, dewy, and illuminated (apply a highlighter) skin. Of course, this being a Karan Johar movie - there is no sign of acne or awkwardness in our girl.

2. Her brows are full and well - defined with light brown powder.

3. In scenes where she sports bright lipstick, her eye makeup is very natural & understated. Just defining of crease, tight-lining, some black eyeliner on upper lash line, false lashes in certain scenes & tons of black mascara on upper & lower lashes. In order to give her that innocent wide eyed look - there is no black kajal on the waterline, but instead on the lower lash line.

4. I don't think she was wearing any blush in the movie, if she was it was very, very subtle.

5. The lips. I think I sported MAC Russian Red, Ruby Woo, Impassioned / Girl About Town, Diva & maybe even So Chaud on her. The brighter, the better. In some scenes she goes subtle, but even then it looked like she was wearing lipstick like MAC Cherish. I didn't feel she was wearing gloss at all in the movie. And she carried off these lipsticks quite well. They were applied & the edges of the lips perfectly defined using a corresponding lip liner. Cupid's bow was not defined sharply.

In all, it is an interesting look for her in the movie.

The movie itself I feel would appeal mostly, again to 13 to 16 year old girls who might find the entire life of Alia super glam, pretty & one they would love to inhabit. Filled with Jimmy Choo shoes, designer togs & model like clothes, Alia's character is one I just couldn't identify with. I remember my teen years as those full of bad hair days, acne to deal with, confidence issues as well a lot of bargain shopping as my pocket money wouldn't allow me to look beyond Elle 18, forget being able to afford Maybelline. I felt it was a waste of 3 hours on Dassera for this movie, though I feel it is much better than Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. But then I've never been a fan of K-Jo movies.

Alia is okay in the movie. I personally feel that she looks a bit ordinary - especially in scenes where she is not sporting those bright lipsticks. I think the choice to make her wear such colors was on purpose. The bright lipsticks draw attention to her face & make her look more glam than she actually is. In scenes with natural makeup, she looked just okay.

Have you seen SOTY? What did you think of the movie & Alia's look in it?

Cat Fight between Alia Bhatt and Esha Gupta over newbie Siddharth Malhotra?

Cat Fight between Alia Bhatt and Esha Gupta over newbie Siddharth Malhotra?Zeenews Bureau

New Delhi: The ‘Student of the Year’ actress Alia Bhatt, who is just a film old, is said to be throwing cold vibes at the Bhatt camp actress Esha Gupta.

According to a tabloid, a source has revealed that the 19-year-old actress was spotted giving cold stares to the ‘Raaz 3’ star at a recent photo shoot.

The source says, “A lot of newcomers from B-Town were present at the shoot. It was surprising to see Alia do that to Esha, especially as the latter was launched by her father Mahesh Bhatt.”

There are rumours that Mahesh Bhatt’s little girl is possessive about her first co-star Siddharth Malhotra and that it could have something to do with Esha getting along well with the latter.

Another source present at the party says, “Esha and Siddharth were seen bonding big time. Both are from Delhi. That didn’t go down well with Alia, especially because he was her first co-star.”
